CLASS PREREQUISITES

Level 2/3 Silks

Sundays 11:30am; Wednesdays 6:00pm
This class is open to students moving on from Level I
Prerequisites:
(applicable to dominant & non-dominant sides):

  • Knowledge and correct execution of hollow body and safe shoulder engagement in air and on ground

  • A minimum of 3 split fabric tuck inverts from the ground (a.k.a. egg ups) returning in bent arm

  • A minimum of one inverted climb with proper technique and safe descent
    Examples: Crochet; double knee (teardrop or waterfall); same or opposite side knee; monkey, etc

  • Same-side/opposite-side knee hooks (catchers) and split fabric straddle inversions without a knot; bent legs ok

  • Hip keys in air, bent legs ok

  • Crossback straddle, 360 drop (fallen angel), & single star drop

Level II Lyra

Mondays 7:00pm
This class is open to students moving on from Level I Lyra.
Prerequisites:

  • Ability to demonstrate the 3 main hand grips on the hoop

  • Ability to mount and dismount the hoop without assistance

  • Ability to safely get into and out of the following tricks: lady in the moon, amazon, straddle back, & gazelle

  • Ability to hold a pike or straddle invert for at least 5 seconds

  • Ability to safely get into and out of a double hocks hang on the top bar
